Foursomes C'ship Timesheet - Out This Thursday

The timesheet for the 2010 Foursomes Championship will be released this Thursday at 5pm.  The event is played over 36 holes on Sunday, March 21.  The cost is $21 per player and this includes lunch.  Both rounds are a shot-gun start and to be fair to all players, the starting hole for each group will be drawn via ballot on the day before the competition.  On that basis, please disregard the starting holes which appear on the timesheet when released on Thursday.

A big thanks goes to Black & White Cabs and The Golf Barn for their sponsorship of the teams in 2010.  We'll be doing a special fundraiser on the 12th tee on March 13 and we'd appreciate your support.

2010 Summer Cup - Final Results

It turned out to be a very tight finish in the 2010 Summer Cup. You can view the top scores in each grade by clicking here.

The in-form Craig Kennedy held onto his lead in A-grade and finished with 72-76-148 to win by a single shot from Matt Toomey and Steve Sinclair. The field closed in on Mark Chappell in B-grade but his 77-86-163 was enough to beat Greg Mitchell and Mike Short by two shots. C-grade proved to be the closest division of all. With scores of 93-92-185, Russell Maxwell won on a countback from Ian Moore and Alan Thorn. Anthony Bourke and Laurie Mackay were a further shot back.

New Handicap System - April 9

In our November newsletter, we spoke about the first stage of the new handicap system which is being introduced in Australia.  To quickly recap, your handicap will soon be based on the best 10 of your last 20 rounds (multiplied by a small adjustment factor of 0.96).

Golf Australia has now confirmed that the new handicaps will come into effect on 9 April 2009.

2010 Golf Season Is Underway... In Style!
Opening Day 2010

Virginia's 2010 golf season kicked off with our ever popular Opening Day on January 24.  This year's fancy dress theme was "supporting your team" and most members were not afraid to show their true colours.

A big thanks goes to Shayn Barnham and his team for the prizes and the pre-round drinks!  You can view a few photos from the day by clicking here.

Huge Crowd At Inaugural Birthday Night

An amazing 220 people turned out for the Club's inaugural Birthday Night launch on 22 January.  It was a terrific event with lots of great food and plenty of prizes won.  Five lucky people won $200 to spend within the Club as part the culmination of our Members Draw.

You can check out some of the photos from the night by clicking here. If you weren't able to make it along, there's no need to worry.  We'll be doing it again every month for the rest of the year!  See you there.

Virginia's Juniors Meet John Senden
John Senden Junior Clinic 2010

Keperra Golf Club hosted a special junior clinic on 3 January 2010 and four Virginians were hand-picked by our head professional, Shayn Barnham, to attend. US PGA Tour winner John Senden (currently ranked 76th in the world) provided some valuable tips to our budding stars and it was great to see him back in Australia supporting junior golf.
