Virginia Golf Club - New Course Ratings PDF Print E-mail
Over the next two years, every golf course in Australia is being re-rated to ensure consistency when the new handicap system is fully implemented.  In May 2010, our own courses were rated by a specialist team from Golf Queensland.  It was a complex process which took into account many factors.  The most significant factor for us was the course length.
We have now been advised of our new course ratings.  These ratings, known as USGA Scratch ratings, are in effect from 26 July 2010 and apply to all competitions at Virginia.
Your scores for handicapping purposes will now be assessed against these ratings.  For example, if you shoot a shoot a score of 84 (13 over par) on our Championship Course (holes 1-18) off the blue tees, then this is adjusted to a score of 82 (11 over par) for handicapping purposes.  This is because the USGA Scratch rating is 73 and the par for the course is 71.
The ratings we have received are as follows:

Championship Course - Holes 1-18
Tee Par  Scratch Rating
Men's Blue  71 73
Men's White 71 72
Women's Red 73 74
